The A-Z of EG

Saw this floating around the blogs of late and thought this would be a fun way for you to all to get to know me a bit..!

A. Age: 24
B. Bed size: Queen, but one day I’ll have a giant king sized bed where I can get far enough way from boyfriend so that we don't want to kill each other in summer!Q
C. Chore that you hate: Putting away the laundry. Once its clean and dry, the next step is just filler in between me wearing said clothing.
D. Dogs: My family (i.e mum) has a kelpie choco dog. His name is Dino - he is awesome.
E. Essential start to your day: Solitaire on my phone and then either a smoothie or porridge.
F. Favourite colour: In general I would say cobalt blue. In terms of clothing, I would say red and black.
G. Gold or Silver:, I used to ONLY wear silver but gold has a time and a place. In recent times I have a gold necklace constantly round my neck just to prove my devotion.
H. Height: Around 5'8. I would say, would probably need to invest in a measuring tape to be more specific.
I. Instruments you play: Tambourine, kind of out of time?
J. Job title: Children television programmer (about to change though!)
K. Kids: Uh no, I work, study and am in a relationship. There is no room for anyone else!
L. Live: Sydney
M. Mother’s name: Lynda
N. Nicknames: I have a few, none that are really used on a day to day basis; they range from Eli, Lissa, Lissy, Lis (really though, don't call me Lis, I despise it and grow to hate the people that say it).
O. Overnight hospital stays: Little bit of an overdose when I was 16. But all good, I am alive and healthy now :)
P. Pet peeves: People who don't respect the environment, and give the excuse "But we need jobs...", yeah mate, that's why I'm back at uni so I can have job doing right by the planet.

R. Right or left handed: Right
S. Siblings: One brother. And an identical twin sister
U. Underwear: Black. Its always black
V. Vegetable you hate: I seriously really enjoy my veggies. There are two things I don't do though - eat raw mushrooms or avocado just by itself.
W. What makes you run late: I haven't yet figured that out. Time just gets away from me.
X. X-Rays you’ve had: Nine. No, I just picked a random number. I would have zero idea.
Y. Yummy food that you make: My vegetarian shepherds pie or my broccoli salad.
Z. Zoo animal: Its not a zoo animal...but I fantasise about teacup pigs. And llamas. And ponies. And pandas, ok that's my zoo animal. Panda.

Ecosystems...what do we really know?

Coming back from my intensive biology unit for my B Environmental Science, I really got to thinking about ecosystems. Because really, what do we know?

Well yes it's biological environment consisting of all the organisms living in a particular area, as well as all the nonliving (abiotic), physical components of the environment

with which the organisms interact, such as air, soil, water and sunlight.

Ecosystems are incredibly diverse but also so delicate and fragile. I get really upset when big corporations want to build roads and friggin golf courses right through national parks and wetlands. They tell us that they will "rebuild and rejuvenate" these areas surrounding it, as if a giant bulldozer didn't come along and destroy half of it.

Due to science not having made as many discoveries as we would have hoped, unfortunately they can't "replicate" an ecosystem. It just can't be done.

So when you see a company (or even the government!), wantonly building a highway, protest the shit out of it, because they just have no idea the repercussions of destroying such biodiversity!
